PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a groin strain, and All-Star third baseman Placido Polanco has been activated from the DL.

The moves were made before the major league-leading Phillies opened a three-game series against the New York Mets on Monday night.

Rollins strained his right groin in a loss at Washington on Sunday. The former NL MVP had never been on the DL before 2008, but this is his fourth stint in four years. He’s hitting .268 with 14 homers, 58 RBIs and 28 stolen bases and has just five errors this season.

Polanco had been sidelined by a sports hernia. He was in the lineup batting second against the Mets. Shane Victorino replaced Rollins in the leadoff spot.
