Letter: Murray represents balance

The Columbian
Published: August 21, 2011, 5:00pm

What is The Columbian’s love affair with Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas? Coverage for several days and an Aug. 7 front-page story “Deficit warrior” with two additional pages mid-section. The president of the United States doesn’t get that kind of coverage, but then he isn’t Republican. Not all Columbian subscribers are either.

It was nice to see Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., squeezed into the bottom of the Aug. 10 front page with the story “Reid names Murray to be co-chair of debt ‘super committee’,” announcing her co-chair appointment to an important budget committee.

Murray has worked hard for southern Washington throughout her years in office.

We need legislators to represent both business and the populace. When they do their job, we have a balance. It would be nice to see some balance in our newspaper.
