Plaque stolen from Bellingham Federal Building

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) -- A bronze historical marker has been stolen from the facade of Bellingham's downtown Federal Building.

The Bellingham Herald reports (http://bit.ly/qMBaB0 ) that the theft is the most recent in a string of bronze thefts targeting Bellingham parks. Police say the thieves are likely recycling the metal for cash as its value increases.

The plaque recognized the building as being on the National Register of Historic Places. Employees reported Tuesday that it was missing.
