Hal Dengerink, founding and longtime Washington State University Vancouver chancellor who resigned in June, was honored Tuesday at an RSVP reception held at the Firstenburg Student Center on the campus.

Mike Worthy, local member of the WSU board of regents, served as master of ceremonies during the afternoon tribute that drew more than 200 guests.

Included were WSU President Elson Floyd, former WSU President Lane Rawlins, chancellors of WSU’s Tri-Cities and Spokane campuses and Bob Knight, Clark College president.

Leaders recognized the new naming of the Dengerink Administration Building. Nancy Youlden, vice chancellor for student affairs, presented gifts from student and employee groups.

And, Floyd announced that Dengerink has been given the title of chancellor emeritus, first such designation in WSU history.
