HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) — The city of Hermiston has put its police chief on paid leave and called in a retired chief from Hillsboro to look into officers’ complaints about his management practices.
The East Oregonian (http://bit.ly/qe5kzH ) says the review will be conducted by Ron Louie, chief in Hillsboro from 1992 to 2007. The city manager, Ed Brookshier, says both sides agreed on him.
Brookshier told the City Council on Monday that Police Chief Dan Coulombe (kuh-LOHM) will be on leave immediately, and Louie will start his review in October. A police lieutenant will supervise the department in the meantime.
The paper reports that Coulombe makes $99,000 in annual salary.
