The fire warning level at Gifford Pinchot National Forest has bumped up one notch, tightening some restrictions for work in the forest.

Officials raised the Industrial Fire Precaution Level from I to II. (The highest is Level IV).

For the general public, the change only affects usage of power saws. Chain saws may not be run between 1 and 8 p.m., according to forest officials.

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest’s fire danger rating stands at moderate.

Forest officials remind visitors to take proper precautions with fire in the forest. Precautions include completely extinguishing a campfire before leaving it, and keeping a bucket of water and dirt scraping tools nearby to put out embers.
