ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — David Ortiz is back in the Boston lineup.

Ortiz is batting fifth for Wednesday night’s game at Texas after missing nine games because of bursitis in his right heel. The designated hitter hadn’t played since being scratched from the lineup before a doubleheader Aug. 16 against Tampa Bay.

Manager Terry Francona says he could tell Ortiz was ready because he was “starting to get loud and obnoxious” in the dugout Tuesday night. Ortiz was available to pinch-hit then, but wasn’t needed in an 11-5 Red Sox victory.

Right-hander Bobby Jenks, out since July 8 with back tightness, is scheduled to pitch in a game Saturday. Francona says he’s not sure where that will be. Jenks could rejoin the Red Sox by the end of next week.
