Police officers from several agencies took positions around Southeast 192nd Avenue about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday after an attempted burglary on Grand Ridge Drive, off Brady Road just north of state Highway 14.

Officers from Camas, Vancouver and the Washington State Patrol set up on containment in the area of gravel pits.

A K-9 handler yelled warnings that, if the person didn’t surrender, the dog would find and bite.

As of 4:10 p.m., a 911 dispatcher said no shots had been fired and no one had been hurt.

Some parts of the area are heavily wooded.

Several hours later, a dispatcher said the man escaped.
