Hurricane Irene forces changes of three MLS games

NEW YORK (AP) — With Hurricane Irene taking aim at the East Coast, Major League Soccer has changed times or dates for three games scheduled this weekend.

The Philadelphia Union have moved a game against New England from Sunday to Wednesday night. The game has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.

The New York Red Bulls moved Sunday’s game against the L.A. Galaxy to 8 p.m., Oct. 4, at Red Bull Arena.

D.C. United moved Saturday’s start time against Portland from 7:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at RFK Stadium. MLS will continue to monitor the hurricane before making a final determination of the status of the game.
