Community gardens workshop: The Interfaith Food and Farms Partnership of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon will have a workshop at 1 p.m. to provide ideas, resources and information on creating and maintaining gardens to represent the goals of congregations. Representatives from various gardening organizations will attend. Meeting, followed by a tour of church gardens, will be at First Congregational Church, 1220 N.E. 68th St. Suggested donation is $5 to $10. Register, emo@emoregon.org.

Living Water Community Church: Bruce Ware, a professor of Christian Theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., will preach at 10 a.m. at Living Water Community Church. The congregation meets at Mountain View High School, 1500 S.E. Blairmont Drive. Ware, who is visiting the Northwest this summer to teach a summer intensive course at Western Seminary, has written numerous articles, book reviews and five books. 360-882-4220.

Appreciation service: The Rev. Alphonso H. Meadows Jr., pastor at Ebenezer A.M.E. Zion Church in Seattle, will speak at 4 p.m. at a special service at First A.M.E. Zion Church, 4304 N. ST. ANDREW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5607 N.E. Gher Road, will have a service of ordination for Adrienne Strehlow at 6 p.m. Strehlow, a graduate of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, Calif., will be ordained into the pastoral ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
