Indians’ Brantley out for season with wrist injury

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley will miss the rest of the season because of an injury to his right wrist.

Brantley was placed on the 60-day disabled list Sunday. The wrist bothered Cleveland’s leadoff hitter for weeks and he was put on the 15-day DL on Friday. The injury was originally diagnosed as tendinitis, but tests revealed there might be more serious damage.

Brantley batted .266 with seven homers and 46 RBIs in 114 games.

The Indians also recalled outfielder Jerad Head from Triple-A Columbus and optioned left-hander Nick Hagadone to Columbus.
