ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A Washington state woman accused of conspiring to kill a former fiance outside Anchorage has dropped her request for medical leave before her retrial

The Anchorage Daily News (http://bit.ly/oNDLUJ ) reports Mechele Linehan, a former Anchorage stripper who eventually settled in Olympia, Wash., on Friday withdrew the request to leave the state for medical treatment.

She is awaiting retrial for the 1996 murder of Kent Leppink and has been out of prison on bail since May of last year. She’d asked a Superior Court judge for permission to leave Alaska for treatment on her knee.

But at a hearing Thursday, Linehan’s lawyer found out the man putting up his property as collateral for her bail has decided he can no longer be responsible for the bond.

Members of Linehan’s family have agreed to take over part of the bail, by putting money into a trust account..
