Letter: ‘Green Scissors’ report revealing

The Columbian
Published: August 28, 2011, 5:00pm

Thank you for the “Green Scissors” report on Aug. 25, Page A1 (“Group: Cut off I-5 bridge funding”). It’s good to be told that, in their view, any Columbia River Crossing spending is “not only wasteful but environmentally harmful.” Until reading what “Green Scissors” wrote, I didn’t know that lines of trucks and automobiles stuck in bumper-to-bumper, stop-and-go traffic on I-5 in Portland or idling their exhausts behind an open bridge were so much less environmentally harmful than traffic that would move smoothly across the Columbia.
