Letter: Ryan’s plan for Medicare is wrong

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, has her priorities wrong. She claims that she puts us first, but how can that be when she voted for Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to get rid of Medicare? Did she even investigate to see what would happen to senior citizens if they went on Ryan’s voucher plan?

Picture an 80-year-old senior citizen with a bad heart, stroke and maybe diabetes, going on their own trying to get health insurance from a leading insurer. Do you think an insurance company would accept that senior with so many illnesses? I don’t think so, unless they add to that voucher out of their pocket. If the Ryan plan ever came to be, many seniors would have to go without care because of it.
