SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Linebacker Scott McKillop is among seven players released by the San Francisco 49ers, who trimmed their roster to the 80-player limit Tuesday.
McKillop never seemed completely healed from a left knee injury sustained last year and was still noticeably slowed in his progress.
He tore ligaments in the knee during practice on Aug. 4, 2010, then had season-ending surgery two days later.
A fifth-round draft choice in 2009, McKillop led the 49ers with 31 special teams tackles in 2009 and scored a touchdown on a muffed punt return.
