Letter: Change the name to Fort Vancouver

I was thrilled to read Larry “Bud” Hudlicky’s Aug. 18 letter, “Rally again for name change,” espousing the name change of Vancouver to “Fort Vancouver.” If those of us who care about this don’t act, we will wake up and find the name changed to “The Couv,” which is stupid.
I have already changed the name myself; all mail addressed by me goes to Fort Vancouver. And when I travel, which is often, even though my address is Ridgefield, I always say I’m from “Fort Vancouver.”
It gives me the opportunity to educate people about this fine, beautiful and historic area, and they will not soon confuse us again with Canada.
As far as mail delivery, it’s the ZIP code that determines that. I invite you to join me.
