BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Tyler Hansen can’t wait to get hit Saturday at Hawaii.

The University of Colorado’s senior quarterback hasn’t played in a game since Oct. 23, when he was tackled so hard by Texas Tech linebacker Tyrone Sonier just as he pitched the ball to his tailback on an option play that his spleen was ruptured.

Surgeons had to remove a portion of the organ and Hansen’s season was over.

He’s had 10 months to ponder what it will be like to get hit again. He said he’s eager for that first hit to show he can take it and put his mind at ease.

Hansen was really hoping the new coaching staff would let him get hit once in camp, but head coach Jon Embree would have none of it.
