DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Heleonor Rugby defeated Roar Baby Roar by one length to win Wednesday’s $100,000 Generous Portion Stakes for California-bred 2-year-olds at Del Mar.
Ridden by Christian Santiago Reyes, Heleonor Rugby ran six furlongs on the synthetic Polytrack in 1:10.21 and paid $14, $7.20 and $3.40.
Roar Baby Roar returned $8 and $3.80, while 9-5 favorite Lookin for Jonesy was another nose back in third and paid $2.80.
The victory, worth $60,000, increased Heleonor Rugby’s career earnings to $188,900, with three wins in six starts. She won the C.T.B.A. Stakes on July 22 at Del Mar.
