SEATTLE (AP) -- Fifteen years ago Mars Hill Church had about a dozen people meeting for Bible study in the Seattle home of Pastor Mark Driscoll.
Now it has eight locations in Western Washington with a ninth to open in September in Everett. It also has a campus in Albuquerque, N.M., and plans to open campuses in Portland, Ore., and Irvine, Calif.
The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/mUizhV ) Mars Hill churches had weekly attendance last year of 8,700, ranking it among the largest Protestant churches in the nation.
Driscoll also co-founded a network called Acts 29 that expands like-minded churches nationally and internationally.
