SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Women's Professional Soccer CEO Anne-Marie Eileraas announces she is stepping down after less than a year on the job.
Eileraas joined WPS in January 2010 as general counsel and was appointed chief executive officer last Oct. 1.
The league just completed its third season in which it set attendance records for the regular season (15,404 per game) and the WPS championship game (10,641), and scoring (2.77).
Eileraas will officially step down Sept. 18 to join the legal department of a longtime technology client. The league's Board of Governors have indicated they hope to have her replacement in place prior to her departure.
