KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) — Police in Kirkland, Wash., say a person of interest in the stabbing death of a 19-year-old woman is in custody in another jurisdiction.

The Seattle Times reports that person is jailed on unrelated charges. Police are releasing no other details.

The King County medical examiner’s office ruled Thursday that Scarlett Paxton’s death early Wednesday was a homicide.

KING-TV says she was attacked on a second floor landing at her apartment complex.

Paxton was found about 3 a.m. Wednesday outside her apartment by her boyfriend, who called 911 to say the young woman was bleeding from the neck.

Lt. Mike Murray said she died as medics were putting her into an aid car.
