Texas Tech beats Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 61-54

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Jaye Crockett scored 12 points to lead a balanced Texas Tech squad in a 61-54 win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday night.

Crockett was the only one in double figures, but the Red Raiders (4-3) had five players score at least eight points. Javarez Willis and Toddrick Gotcher had nine points each, Jordan Tolbert and Ty Nurse eight apiece.

Terence Jones scored 26 points and Chris Hawkins-Mast had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Islanders (1-4).

Myron Dempsey’s free throw got Texas A&M-Corpus Christi within 48-45 with 4:58 remaining, but the Islanders missed their next four shots while Jaron Nash made two layups and Toddrick one for Texas Tech.

Up 54-49 and with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi forced to foul, the Red Raiders made seven free throws in the final 39 seconds.
