CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina says freshman P.J. Hairston is questionable for the fifth-ranked Tar Heels’ trip to No. 1 Kentucky with a wrist injury.
Hairston hurt his left wrist when he tried to brace his fall during the second half of Wednesday night’s 60-57 win against No. 9 Wisconsin. Hairston left for the locker room with about 12 minutes left.
The school said Thursday evening that Hairston has a sprained wrist and bone contusion.
Earlier in the day, Hairston tweeted that he wouldn’t play against the Wildcats, adding “I’ll be back ripping the net soon.”
The 6-foot-5 reserve is averaging 8.3 points off the bench and shooting 45 percent from 3-point range, best among the team’s regulars.
