Wash. pedestrian killed by commuter train

KENT, Wash. (AP) — Police in Kent, Wash., say a pedestrian has been killed by a Sounder commuter train.

Commander Pat Lowery says it appears the 46-year-old Kent man stepped into the path of the approaching train about 5:30 p.m. Thursday as it reached a railroad crossing in the south Seattle suburb.

The man’s name was not immediately available. He was declared dead at the scene.

Lowery says warning gates and audible warning signals were working properly.
