GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers will have two new starters on defense Sunday when they meet the New York Giants on the road.

The Packers said Friday that inside linebackers Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk won’t play. Both suffered calf injuries in Green Bay’s win at Detroit on Thanksgiving Day.

Rookie D.J. Smith and second-year player Robert Francois will start for the first time this season. They replaced Bishop and Hawk in the last game and made significant contributions as the Packers improved to 11-0.

Green Bay also will be without right guard Josh Sitton for Sunday’s game because of a knee injury. Evan Dietrich-Smith, a second-year player, will make his first NFL start.
