Walton’s 14 help North Texas rout La Sierra 92-45

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Brandan Walton scored 14 points as North Texas rolled over La Sierra 92-45 on Friday in the first round of the Centennial Classic at Loyola Marymount.

In a return to his hometown, Walton hit 5-for-8, including two 3-pointers. Alzee Williams added 13 points, including four free throws to extend his season streak to 18-for-18.

Jordan Williams scored 11 and Roger Franklin 10 as the Mean Green (2-4) shot 54.5 percent (34 of 64) in ending a four-game losing streak.

Kenneth Penn led the Golden Eagles (0-6) with 12 points, and Aaron Snyder had 11.

The Mean Green outrebounded NAIA La Sierra 52-23 and had a 44-14 edge on points in the paint.

North Texas never trailed.
