ATLANTA (AP) — Jihad Ali scored 17 points and Georgia State played outstanding defense to defeat William & Mary 66-34 on Saturday in the teams’ Colonial Athletic Association opener.
The Panthers (6-3) have won six in a row, their longest winning streak since a seven-game streak in the 2003-04 season. They’ve held their opponents to an average of 47 points during the streak.
The 34 points by the Tribe (1-8) are the second fewest ever by a Georgia State opponent, just one point more than the school record of 33 points allowed against Howard in 2009-10.
The Panthers held William and Mary to just 25.5 percent (12 of 47) shooting from the field, and the Tribe had more turnovers (18) than field goals (12).
