North Florida routs Jacksonville 80-58

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Andy Diaz scored 18 points and Charles McRoy added 15 in North Florida’s 80-58 rout of Jacksonville on Saturday in the Atlantic Sun Conference opener for both teams.

Diaz and McRoy accounted for 19 of North Florida’s first 25 points. McRoy’s jumper would give the Ospreys a 25-18 lead with 6:57 remaining in the first half. North Florida entered the second half leading 40-32 but went on an 11-0 run to take a 51-32 lead after a steal and fast break dunk by Diaz.

North Florida (5-4) had its best shooting performance of the year, hitting 59.6 percent (28 of 47) from the field. The Ospreys shot 70.6 percent (12 of 17) in the second half and outscored Jacksonville 40-26.

Delwan Graham led Jacksonville (2-5) with 16 points but the Dolphins only shot 33.1 percent (23 of 68) from the field, 29.4 percent (10 of 34) in the second half.
