Scott leads Miami past Massachusetts 83-75

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Durand Scott scored 16 points to lead Miami to an 83-75 victory over Massachusetts on Saturday.

Scott scored all of his points on free throws as he finished 0-for-6 from the field but made 16-of-18 free throw attempts.

The Hurricanes (5-2) overcame a Minutemen comeback and clinched the win on Kenny Kadji’s slam dunk with 24 seconds remaining for an 81-74 lead.

Massachusetts had three attempts to cut a 79-74 deficit under two minutes but Sean Carter missed two free throws, Chaz Williams’ running jumper fell off the rim and Kadji blocked Carter’s short field goal jumper with 1:31 left.

Malcolm Grant scored 15 points and Shane Larkin finished with 14 points for the Hurricanes.

Williams scored 22 points to lead the Minutemen (6-3).
