St Francis (Pa) edges Fairleigh Dickinson 73-69

LORETTO, Pa. (AP) — Scott Eatherton and Anthony Ervin scored 19 points apiece for St. Francis (Pa.), leading the Red Flash over Fairleigh Dickinson 73-69 on Saturday night for their first win of the season in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams.

Stephon Whyatt added 12 points and Jon Taylor 10 for the Red Flash (1-6), who connected on a string of late free throws to seal their win.

Kinu Rochford sank a free throw to pull the Knights within 69-67 with just more than a minute left, but the Red Flash connected on five free throws in the game’s final 22 seconds to keep their cushion and seal the win.

The Knights led 40-36 at the break, but an 11-3 run midway through the second half put the Red Flash up for good.

George Goode notched a double-double for the Knights (1-5), getting game-highs with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
