State Reps. Bruce Chandler and David Taylor invite their 15th District constituents to participate in a telephone town hall meeting at 6:35 p.m. Thursday.

The call-in radio-show-style event begins at 6:35 p.m. Call 1-877-229-8493 and enter passcode 15540 to participate.

“This is an excellent opportunity for folks back in district to touch base with us in Olympia from the comfort of their own homes,” said Chandler, R-Granger. “We’ve got a lot of issues before us as we debate our state’s budget situation. The decisions we make today will impact all Washingtonians for years to come. We’d like to hear the thoughts and opinions of those in the 15th Legislative District as we debate these issues with our colleagues in the Legislature.”

Chandler’s district also covers a sliver of Northeast Clark County along the Columbia Gorge. Lawmakers in the 18th District will hold a similar town hall meeting on Wednesday. See http://www.columbian.com/news/2011/dec/05/18th-district-lawmakers-hold-telephone-town-hall/.

The Legislature convened Nov. 28 in a 30-day special session to consider how to pare $2 billion in spending due to a revenue shortfall. Many of the proposed cuts are to human services, public education and public safety. The 60-day regular session is set to begin Jan. 8.

Constituents with questions before the event can contact Chandler at 360-786-7960 or bruce.chandler@leg.wa.gov. Taylor can be reached at 360-786-7874 or david.taylor@leg.wa.gov.
