The 22-year-old man who was rescued from a burning car early Saturday remained in critical condition Monday.

Brian J. Hall was sent to Legacy Oregon Burn Center in Portland with serious injuries after his BMW hit a utility pole at McLoughlin and Grand boulevards about 2 a.m. Saturday. Hall’s car was on fire when nearby resident James Bray rushed to the scene and pulled him from the car with the help of a few others.

When firefighters arrived at the crash, the car was fully involved. The driver “would not have survived if he had not been pulled out,” said Capt. David James, fire department spokesman.

Vancouver police on Sunday said the department’s traffic unit is continuing its investigation.
