Police on Monday morning detained a suspect after a high-speed pursuit and foot chase in the West Minnehaha neighborhood.

Anthony R. Cain, 27, of Vancouver was arrested for a Department of Corrections warrant charging him with failing to report to his probation officer, said Sgt. Tony Barnes with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were told that the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser that Cain drove had been involved in a burglary; Cain isn’t a suspect in the burglary.

About 9:30 a.m., an officer saw the car and Cain raced away at 70 mph near 52nd Street and St. Johns Road. A few minutes later the suspect crashed into a tree, then fled on foot. He was then detained by police near Northeast St. James Road and Northeast Cherry Lane.
