Esther Short — The 2011 Vancouver USA Marathon in June raised nearly $9,000 for three nonprofit groups: the Children’s Cancer Association, the Fort Vancouver National Trust and the Parks Foundation of Clark County. Each nonprofit will receive a donation of nearly $3,000 collected from registration fees and individual donations. CCA provides unique programs and services for seriously ill children and their families such as Music Rx and Chemo Pal in-hospital programs and the Caring Cabin. The Fort Vancouver National Trust was formed to advance the preservation and education efforts of Fort Vancouver. The Parks Foundation supports parks, trails and recreational programs in Clark County. The 2011 Vancouver Marathon was the first year of the event.
