EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Riding with Chris Snee to the New York Giants’ game against the Green Bay Packers this past weekend, Mitch Petrus wasn’t certain whether he would even be active for the contest at MetLife Stadium.

The second-year guard not only dressed, he started for the first time in his career when the Giants had to re-shuffle their line after center David Baas developed severe headaches and was unable to play.

Kevin Boothe moved from left guard to center and the excitable Petrus got the start and played well.

With Baas’ medical problems unresolved, Petrus seemingly will be in the starting lineup again when the Giants head to Dallas for a nationally televised Sunday night NFC East first-place showdown with the Cowboys (7-5).
