MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ricky Rubio says there were times during a long and bitter NBA lockout that he worried his first pro season in the United States would be wiped out.

Now that the players and owners are on the brink of signing a new collective bargaining agreement, Rubio can’t wait to get going. The Spanish point guard showed up at Target Center on Wednesday for a light workout ahead of an anticipated first day of training camp on Friday.

Rubio says he is relieved to know there will be a season, but also says he benefited from the extra time off. He spent most of his time in Los Angeles, working out with other NBA players.

Rubio also says he enjoyed seeing all the snow on the ground in Minnesota.
