FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Offensive guru Tom Moore will work as a “mega consultant” from the New York Jets’ facility for the rest of this season after operating mostly from his home in South Carolina.
Moore, hired in the offseason to help the Jets’ offense, was at the team’s facility last week and coach Rex Ryan said he was going to try to get him to stick around. Moore would previously evaluate Jets game film, do advance scouting on opponents and have email exchanges and telephone conversations with Ryan, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and other coaches and players.
The 73-year-old Moore retired after last season following a long tenure as Indianapolis’ offensive coordinator. Ryan says he asked Moore about being around all year and the coach said, “Let’s go for it.”
