The Washougal School District had four schools in lockdown since 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, but the lockdown ended shortly before 4 p.m. That’s after normal dismissal time for some students, but they were held where they were safe while police worked nearby.

Hathaway Elementary, Gause Elementary, Washougal High School, and Excelsior High School were locked down.

Some Gause Elementary students were still on school buses when the lockdown went into effect. They were transported to the bus garage.

All students and staff are safe. There have been no incidents at any district school. The district asked patrons to contact our Central Office with questions. The number is 360-954-3000.
