THE DALLES — A public meeting to discuss sport sturgeon fishing next year in the Bonneville pool of the Columbia River will begin at 6:30 p.m. at The Dalles Screen Shop, 3561 Klindt Drive.

Sport catch guidelines in the reservoir behind Bonneville Dam have increased from 700 in 2009 to 1,400 in 2010 and 2,000 in 2011, yet have been filled and the season closed in late February the past two years.

Washington and Oregon fishery officials will discuss ways to extend the season later into the year, possibly by allowing sturgeon retention only on certain days of the week.
