The Tigers scored more than half of their points in the fourth quarter, but the hole they dug in the first three periods was too much to overcome in the non-league loss.

Serg Ovchinnikov scored 13 of his game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter for Battle Ground (3-3, 1-0 Class 4A GSHL). Jake Belford added 11 points for the Tigers, who were playing their third game of the week including an overtime heartbreaker Friday night against Evergreen.

“We really struggled to score, obviously,” Battle Ground coach Andy Schoonover said. “After a long week for us, our guys just didn’t have a whole lot of emotion and energy left in the tank. It took us three quarters before we realized we should actually try to win.”

Battle Ground was 5 of 26 from the floor in the first half and trailed 26-19 after three quarters.

“I’m not sure what flipped the switch, to be honest with you,” Schoonover said.
