A broken water line will close the southbound side of the Gee Creek Rest Area just off of Interstate 5 for much of the day Wednesday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews started making repairs to the water line just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to WSDOT, and were expected to finish by 4:30 p.m. The southbound rest area is located just below exit 14, near Ridgefield.

The damaged water line didn’t affect the other side of the rest area farther south. Southbound motorists can still turn around at exit 9, then access the northbound Gee Creek Rest Area at exit 11.
