Letter: Keeping America working

The Columbian
Published: December 13, 2011, 4:00pm

I thank Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, for keeping her commitment not to raise taxes on families and small businesses. The approach that some would take — increasing taxes — would fall squarely on small-business owners who work hard to earn a living. Many of them file taxes as individuals, but with their earnings they have to run a business, pay employees, and try to survive this tough economy.

Many people here in Washington state’s 3rd Congressional District do not want taxes raised. We want exactly what the congresswoman pledged to do — not raise taxes and replace Obamacare. Herrera Beutler is fighting for seniors, the middle class and working Americans when she stands against the tax-and-spend politicians who have Americans on the brink of bankruptcy.
