Longtime Ridgefield resident honored for work on city’s behalf

Ridgefield — Longtime resident David Standal received the city’s 2011 Outstanding Citizen Award on Dec. 1. He was chosen for his tireless devotion and efforts toward the betterment of the community. Standal, who has lived in Ridgefield for 20 years, has donated many pieces of artwork that have raised thousands of dollars at local fundraisers. He has coordinated cruise-ins and worked on numerous Fourth of July festivals, the Centennial Celebration, the annual Spring Cleanup Day, and the Blue Heron Community Garden. Standal also volunteered countless hours planting trees and building trails and play structures throughout the city. He was the grand marshal in the 2010 Ridgefield Fourth of July Parade and served on the planning commission for eight years and the city council for four.
