At Hockinson 69, Ridgefield 62 — The Hawks clawed back from a 32-23 halftime deficit to win a foul-plagued non-league game as the teams combined for 70 free throw attempts.

“We were down by nine at halftime and played much better in the second half,” Hockinson coach Matt Gruhler said. “There were 28 fouls called on each team, so it came down to who was making their free throws and who was taking care of the ball at the end.”

Hockinson was 26 of 37 at the line, and Ridgefield was 23 of 33.

Gruhler said he was pleased with his team’s balanced scoring. Justin Schauer scored 21 points for Hockinson, while Everett Klodt and Hayden Hall each added 11. Alan Haagen had six points, four assists and three rebounds, and Cole Kirkpatrick had eight points and four rebounds.

Michael Schwinof scored 19 points, Michael Potter added 14 and Sam Landerholm had 12 for the Spudders.
