Battle Ground — About 70 special-education students and their families enjoyed a Christmas party hosted by the Battle Ground Elks Lodge, Ladies of the Elks, Battle Ground Public Schools’ special-education teachers, bus drivers, the school district and Darcy Schmitt, Battle Ground High School’s choir director. The students were treated to food, games, prizes and clowns from Shriners International, who put smiles on the children’s faces. Schmitt and high school choir entertained the group. Santa, who visited the event, had a bag of goodies for each child. Each child also received a gift from the Elks and L.O.E.
