Clark County — Fourteen Clark County schools from three districts received national awards for improving the health and nutrition of their students.
The HealthierUS School Challenge presented $500 awards to schools from the Battle Ground, Camas and Hockinson districts, the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction announced this week.
HUSSC recognized 21 Washington schools for improving the nutritional quality of the foods they served and providing students with nutritional and physical education and opportunities for physical activity.
Four levels of awards were given — bronze ($500), silver ($1,000), gold ($1,500) and gold of distinction ($2,000).
Seven Battle Ground primary schools received bronze awards: Captain Strong, Daybreak, Glenwood Heights, Maple Grove, Pleasant Valley, Tukes Valley and Yacolt.
