Vancouver — Chronis’ Restaurant and Lounge in downtown Vancouver is famous for its long-running free Thanksgiving meal.

What’s relatively new is that Chronis’ is offering a free Christmas dinner too. A full ham dinner is on tap, with vegetables and other sides, dessert and nonalcoholic beverages.

“As we found out on Thanksgiving, there are quite a few people who need this meal,” said Superior Court Judge Rich Melnick, restaurateur Chuck Chronis’ partner in the ongoing effort. “The economy may be turning, but not fast enough.”

Doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 25 at 819 Main St. As is always the tradition at Chronis’ holiday meals, no payments will be accepted.
