Bellingham — Forbes magazine has named Tacoma-based Columbia Bank as the best bank based in the state.
Forbes’ “America’s Best and Worst Banks” ranked Columbia 34th out of the 100 largest publicly traded banks, beating out Key Bank, Chase, US Bank and Bank of America. Columbia also placed second in the Northwest on the Forbes list.
Columbia Banking System has 102 branches in Oregon and Washington, including two in Vancouver.
Columbia also was ranked third in Seattle Business Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work” in 2011 and was chosen one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s best workplaces in the state for 2011.
