Letter: Some things just go up

Oh, my, what is the world coming to?

Campaigning for a new president started two years ago, I haven’t had a raise in pay since I retired in the year 2000, sex claims all over the place accusing jerks who are supposed to be somewhat intelligent people in high positions, we do not have a Congress anymore to speak of, political parties fighting back and forth at the expense of the American people. They act like a bunch of little kids.

Now the post office is taking a hit with heavy cutbacks, thousands of people will be laid off along with millions more who are out of work and looking for work. Jokingly, I was glad to read that Clark Public Utilities is raising our water rates. I have a home of my own that has dropped dramatically in value like everyone else who owns one, and you know what — my wife and I are two of the lucky ones with no credit card debts along with old cars that are paid off.

So, the only thing we can say is, Merry Christmas, folks. Our hearts go out to everyone.

Richard C. Mason, Vancouver
