Letter: Representative shows independence

The Columbian
Published:

I will be the first to admit I am not a fan of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas. Most of the time, it seems she listens more to money and party politics than to her own constituents. That said, I was quite pleased to see she stood up for what was right and voted to support the two-month extension of the payroll tax break, unemployment benefits and the Medicare “Doc Fix.” I want to thank Herrera Beutler for taking a stand, even when it was not popular with the rest of her party. I also hope she will keep it up as we enter the new year.
